U-17 TOURNEY

Guwahati, March 20: Star Cricket Coaching Academy and hosts Ankurjyoti Cricket Coaching Academy will meet NF Railway Sports Association and Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre respectively in the semi-finals of the Debabrata Banerjee and Vijay Tewari (under-17) cricket championship.

Star defeated City Cricket Coaching Centre by three wickets, while Ankurjyoti beat Noonmati Cricket Academy by 15 runs in league matches today at Latasil ground here.

In the first match, City rode a 47-run knock by skipper Rishav Das to post 87 for eight in the 15 overs. The rest of their batsmen managed only single-digit scores, while Dipankar Gogoi and Mainak Sarkar shared two wickets each for Star.

In reply, Star reached 91 for seven in 14.3 overs with opener Rikul Deka scoring 37. He was named Man of the Match. City captain Rishav scalped three for 23 and Mridul Bordoloi claimed two for 21.

Riding 28 runs by Man of the Match Tinku Das and 25 by skipper Parthajit Baishya, Ankurjyoti scored 98 in 19.5 overs in the other match of the day. Biju Sutradhar took three wickets for 17 runs for Noonmati.

Noonmati were skittled out for 83 in 17 overs with Saurov Dey and Deutipran Thakuria sharing three wickets each for 19 and 10 respectively. Mustafi Ali chipped in with two for seven.

On Saturday, NF Railway defeated Ankurjyoti by 111 runs, while Guwahati centre inflicted a three-wicket defeat on Latasil Cricket Coaching Centre to book berths in the semi-finals. The railway boys rode a strokeful 51 by skipper Swarupam Purkayastha to post 185 for three in 20 overs and bundled out the hosts for 74 in 20 overs.

In the other match, Latasil posted 105 in 19.4 overs and Guwahati centre reached 106 for seven in 18 overs.

River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre will play Noonmati Cricket Academy and City Cricket Coaching Centre meet Latasil Cricket Coaching Centre in the last league matches tomorrow. The semi-finals will be played on Tuesday.
