Guwahati, May 26: Nagaon and Karbi Anglong registered wins in their respective matches of the Umananda Bora Under-13 Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.
In the first match of the day, Nagaon edged past Tinsukia by one run.
The match had to be reduced to 15 overs-a-side owing to heavy overnight downpour.
The Nagaon batsmen were all out for paltry 50 runs in 14.5 overs. Afzalur Hussain with 14 runs and Pranjit Bora with 10 were the only batsman to reach double figures while the side received 22 runs in extras. Hridoi Xalxo and Nabin Kumar bagged three wickets each.
Chasing the total, the Tinsukia batsmen fell short by one run as the side could only manage 49 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated overs.
Deep Dey was the lone batsman to reach double figures with 10 runs.
In the other match of the day, Karbi Anglong registered a five wicket victory over Kokrajhar.
The Kokrajhar batsmen put up a total of 81 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
Sagarnil Nath scored 14 runs while Baidyanath Mazumdar chipped in with 11. Sarmendu Engti picked up three wickets conceding eight runs.
In reply, the Karbi Anglong boys got past the target losing five wickets in 17.4 overs. Abolon Taru topscored for his side with an unbeaten knock of 26 runs. Ayub Ali Sekh picked up three wickets going for 20 runs.
