Karbi artiste Chandra Sing Kro receives (in UB Photos picture above) the Pratima Barua Pandey memorial award at a function in Chandmari on Tuesday.

The award, instituted by AASU in 2007, was given to Kro for his dedication and zeal for preserving and promoting folk culture of the state.

After honouring Kro, the AASU demanded that the state government must convert the Matiabag residence of the Goalpariya folk singer in Dhubri district into a heritage house as a tribute to her. Text by Daulat Rahman
