Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s new “official” residence is being given a facelift. Gogoi will move into the new residence following advice by doctors at the AIIMS, New Delhi, where he is recuperating at present from a lumbar problem. His present residence is atop a hill at Jawaharnagar. Measures have been taken in right earnest to cushion Gogoi’s “bad back” from bumpy rides. The rumble strips in front of Janata Bhawan have been flattened, the VIP roads are being carpeted and customised cars have been requisitioned in view of the chief minister’s back problem.
