Jan. 23: City-based Hayat Hospital today signed an MoU with Global Hospitals Group, a multi-super specialty tertiary care hospital chains and multi-organ transplant centre.

The agreement was designed to enhance the reach of Global Hospitals’ super-speciality services to the masses through Hayat Hospital.

From now on, Global Hospitals will work closely with Hayat on liver treatment and transplantation of pancreas, liver and gastrointestinal surgery, orthopaedic surgery, including joint (hip or knee) replacement, kidney transplantation, cancer treatment and surgery.

Talking to reporters, medical director of Hayat, Atanu Barthakur, said their hospital would start the liver transplant surgery with the help of Global Hospitals from 2014.

Barthakur said from February, super-specialist doctors would visit Hayat regularly. In the first phase, they will come for OPD consultation and a team of doctors and paramedical of Hayat will go to Global Hospitals for training.

In the second phase, Global Hospitals’ doctors will start gastrointestinal and cancer surgery in Hayat. From 2014, both teams will conduct high-end surgeries like liver transplant.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandra Sekhar, executive director (marketing and strategy) of Global Hospitals Group, said, “We are delighted with the collaboration with Hayat Hospital. He also said during a span of one-and-half years, Hayat has successfully conducted 300 open-heart surgeries and 200 brain surgeries.
