Guwahati: After winning the Mr India Model of the World title, Guwahati lad Dipankar Talukdar has set his sights on the Mister Model of the World crown at a pageant to be held at Yangon in Myanmar from April 20 to 28.

Dipankar won the title after beating 30 other finalists at the Mr India pageant in Bangalore in the first week of March. He is a graduate in mechanical engineering and worked in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) office here for a year, before embarking on a modelling career.

The Mister Model of the World pageant is envisaged as a platform for handsome and smart men around the world to show their passion and commitment, to reflect the beauty of the world through fashion, culture, heritage and values, while promoting peace and brotherhood.

Dipankar said, "I have worked hard for one-and-a-half years to participate in the national-level contest. The upcoming international competition for the Mister Model of the World crown is going to be much tougher. I am preparing both physically and mentally. It is an honour to represent the country." Altogether 25 contestants from around the world are participating in the Myanmar contest.

The contest itinerary includes a physique and form competition, through a photo shoot and swimwear ramp show, a culture and heritage competition involving a national costume round and traditional wear fashion show, auction shows, a Myanmar designers' night and tourist visit to ancient cities of Myanmar.

Dipankar is receiving fashion fitness grooming from city-based mentor Kaushik Bhuyan. His national costume is being designed by Bangalore designer Akshay Mane.
