Guwahati: Assamese music video Goru Bihu Song, directed by music producer Axl Hazarika, has been selected for screening at the 47th Sehsüchte, one of the largest international film festivals in Europe, in the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF housed at Babelsberg Film Studio, Germany.

It is the world's oldest largescale film studio set up in 1921 where legendary Assamese filmmaker Jyoti Prasad Agarwala learnt filmmaking in 1930.

Goru Bihu Song is an experimental music video that captures the essence of Bihu dance and celebrations on the eve of Rongali Bihu, the spring festival when cows are washed and worshipped.

The video is based on the futuristic imagination of Goru Bihu celebrations, away from the homeland and in the absence of cows amid a generation of technology-based live music performance. The music video was produced at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio here.

Many Hollywood blockbusters, including Fritz Lang's Metropolis and Josef Von Sternberg's The Blue Angel were filmed in Babelsberg Film Studio. More recent productions include V for Vendetta, The Pianist, Captain America: Civil War, Æon Flux, The Bourne Ultimatum, Valkyrie, Inglourious Basterds, Cloud Atlas, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Hunger Games among others.

Goru Bihu Song will be screened on Saturday between 9pm and 11pm. "This is perhaps the best gift we could get this Goru Bihu. We are extremely delighted about our music video's official selection at the prestigious International Film Festival. It is an honour for us to have the video to be screened there," Hazarika said here in a statement.

The music video has made a tremendous impact with official selections at more than 20 international film festivals in Russia, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Africa and the US.

The entire video is made with a very small crew and minimal budget at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.

Direction, editing, post production and music are done by Axl Hazarika with Amrita Sonowal on the vocals. Cinematography is done by Krishna Shah while Ryan Hazarika is the assistant director.
