Nov. 4: This year Children’s Day will start early.

Students from various schools will get a chance to watch children’s movies at the Children’s Film Festival from November 12 to 14 at Rabindra Bhawan.

This will also be a welcome change for children whose daily schedule of classes, homework and extra-curricular activities keeps them busy. The film festival is being organised as part of the Children’s Day celebration by the Children’s Film Society of India in collaboration with the directorate of culture.

“We will be screening 12 Hindi feature films made for children during the festival. These films have been made on varied topics concerning science, arts and even social issues. They will have both education and entertainment value,” said Abhinash Sharma, joint director of the directorate of culture.

“Though these films deal with different topics, they have been made keeping in mind the interest of children and young viewers. They will be able to relate to them and absorb information disseminated through the medium of films. They are also a source of inspiration for the kids,” said an official of the directorate of culture.

The feature films to be screened during the festival have been selected by the Children’s Film Society of India.

The organisers are expecting all schools of the city to participant.

“Our officials have contacted the inspector of schools as well as principals of several schools to let their students participate in the festival,” said Sharma.

The organisers are also conducting a workshop for these children on November 14 the concluding day of the festival.

“It will be a workshop on filmmaking. We have invited faculty members of the Regional Government Film and Television Institute as well as noted filmmaker Charu Kamal Hazarika to interact with the participants,” added Sharma.
