Hussain made his debut in the world of celluloid last year with the Resort ? A Review, a documentary on the breathtakingly beautiful resorts in the region.
“The film is descriptive and made in an easy- to-understand format. Moreover, after every screening, we conduct a question-answer round to carry forward the awareness programme,” Hussain, who was in Guwahati recently, said.
An official of the Manipur AIDS Control Society said, “We are planning to screen the film in educational institutions of the state as youth are the most vulnerable section.”
Hussain said surveys conducted by DKT International showed that “most of the traditional attempts on the part of government and non-governmental agencies to curb the menace of AIDS have failed in the region”.
“Thus we came up with the idea of making a film with all the sensibilities and aesthetics of the region to reach out to the vulnerable section of the society. As all cannot come and see the film, we have carried out the mobile screening, initially in Manipur,” he added.
Though a documentary, Hussain has also used actors as part of an experimentation to pass on the message easily. “The menace of AIDS is a global concern. But the entire film is made keeping in mind the audiences of the Northeast and their sense of understanding. Thus I have dramatised few scenes by using actors who are from the region,” he added.
