Kokrajhar, Sept. 22: Food Corporation of India (FCI), Guwahati defeated Central Football Club (CFC), Bhutan 3-1 to lift the Kamaleswar Brahma Football Trophy at Rupnath Brahma field, Ramfalbil, in Kokrajhar today.
In a thrilling final match, David K. Haminta scored the first goal for FCI in the 15th minute of the match. Minicharan Narzary consolidated the lead in the 24th minute.
In the 38th minute, the Bhutanese team reduced the margin to 2-1 through a fine goal by Jail Rai. In the 80th minute, Rakesh Das scored the third goal for FCI to lift the trophy.
Das was named Man of the Match. The champions got Rs 25,000, along with a trophy, while the runners-up received Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
Martyr’s cup
Food Corporation of India SC, Guwahati emerged champions in the 15th edition of the Bodoland Martyr’s Cup Football Tournament at Koirabari in Udalguri yesterday.
The Guwahati team got the better of Salbagan Sports Club, Gossaigaon 4-3 via tie-breaker after the match ended in a goalless draw.
Organised by the Koirabari Anchalik Committee of Absu and Koirabari Sports Association, the champions received Rs 15,000 along with the trophy while the runners-up got richer by Rs 10,000 and a trophy.
FCI goalkeeper Govinda Boro was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament.
Bordoloi Trophy: The 63rd Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Bordoloi Trophy Tournament football quarter-final between Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Club and Assam Rifles has been postponed in view of incessant rain in the city since the last two days.
