FC Zalen victorious

FC Zalen edged out Youth Organisation Sporting Club by 2-1 goals to enter the pre-quarter finals of the 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2015 at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.

Imphal, Dec. 7: FC Zalen edged out Youth Organisation Sporting Club by 2-1 goals to enter the pre-quarter finals of the 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2015 at Mapal Kangjeibung here today.

FC Zalen took their time as they faced resistance from Youth Organisation but the former found the breakthrough with Patrick Kamei scoring a free kick to take the lead by a solitary goal in the first half. In the second half, seasoned campaigner Seikhohao Tuboi ruffled the net in the 56th minute after collecting a pass from T. Nelson Kom to post 2-0 goals.

However, Youth Organisation found an opening when Worchuipui Kasung VC slammed home their lone goal with help from T. Hungyo. Youth Organisation players Peimi Kasar, M. Manglemba and H.A. Winner and FC Zalen player Seikhohao Tuboi were booked with yellow cards.

In tomorrow's match, Keinou Library & Sports Association will meet Young Physique Union at 1.30pm.

Women football: Kangchup Road Youth Physical Sports Association blanked Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club 11-0 while Eastern Sporting Union beat Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal, by 2-0 goals.

Football: The AIFF has appointed T. Ranjita Devi as match official for the 21st Senior Women's National Football Championship, 2015 (East Zone) to be held at Kalyani in Bengal from December 21-27.

Weightlifting: Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang will host the N. Surendra Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter-College Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Best Physique Tournament 2015-16 from December 16-17.

Football: The Asian Football Confederation has appointed Serto Chimchim as assistant referee 1 to officiate in the AFC under-14 Regional Championship, 2015 (south and central) final match to be played between Nepal and Bangladesh on December 20 in Kathmandu.

Veteran Cricket: Kuki Sporting Club Lambulane posted a 40-run win over Cyclone Thangmeiband in the 13th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2015-16 at Langthabal Public Ground.
