Guwahati, Aug. 22: Dynamo Club held Green Valley Sports Club to a goalless draw in their match of the RG Baruah Guwahati Sports Association Super Division Football League at the first turf of the Nehru Stadium here today.
Green Valley players, who were riding high on confidence with three consecutive wins, failed to capitalise on their chances. Dynamo players hardly made any inroads into the Green Valley territory in the first half.
Green Valley’s Nigerian recruit George Prince, having received a measured pass from Michael Lucky Kelechukwu on the right flank, failed to find the net in the 12th minute. Prince’s strike from close range was well saved by Dynamo glovesman Basta Marandi.
Basta went on to deny Green Valley a genuine lead in the 21st minute. Kelechukwu’s strike from inside the box was magnificently saved.
The remaining minutes of the game witnessed a few tussles and attempts on target but both the sides failed to find the back of the net.
In the Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League at ground two, City Police humiliated Rajbari Athletic Club 6-0. Nirab Dewri started the proceedings with a goal in the 24th minute while Pranab Das gave his side a two-goal lead with a goal in the 30th minute. Amulya Das scored in the 40th minute while substitute Ajoy Basumatary found the back of the net in the 68th minute. Rinku Medhi provided his side with the fifth goal in the 84th minute while Pranab Das ensured his brace in the 87th minute.
Insiders in Rajbari AC expressed dismay over the defeat and blamed it on the club’s management for selection of outstation professionals and allegedly interfering with the fielding of the playing XI.
