Imphal, Oct. 10: Don Bosco School Chingmeirong won the prestigious 3rd Joseph Ramesh Memorial state-level inter-school basketball tournament played at Poumai Colony in Chingmeirong yesterday.
In the closely fought final, the spirited Don Bosco School overcame the challenge of St Anthony School 32-26 for the title.
For the Bosconians, M. Wungsung was the star player, fetching 10 points for his team. He was well supported by his teammates Sana and John, who chipped in with eight points each. Samuel added four points to the total and C. Anal also contributed two points for the win.
For the runners-up St Anthony School, Khudu showed excellent form by scoring nine points. His teammate Baorei added six points to the total and Kenny Leonard added five points.
Dalselring chipped in with four and Masoya added two, but they failed to match up to the Don Bosco boys who ultimately walked away with the trophy.
Eagle High School, who defeated Kids’ School by 44-32 points, had to settle for the third spot.
