Guwahati, Dec. 22: A 20-member Assam contingent left for Ajmer in Rajasthan today to participate in the cadet and sub-junior national table tennis championship from December 25.

Late Lakhikanta Sarma’s family has given the contingent’s tour expenses.

The Assam women’s team had to be content with the bronze in the recent 65th senior national and inter-state table tennis championship in Gurgaon. They lost to PSPB. Gujarat ousted the men’s team in the quarterfinals.

Anal Kashyap paired up with Jupi Borthakur to clinch the silver in mixed doubles.

THE TEAMS

Cadet boys: Anurag Das, Nirman Baruah, Elsayeed Hussain and Chanakya Kashyap. Cadet girls: Karishma Azmi, Snigdha Choudhury, Rosnali Pathak and Dipika Gogoi.

Sub-junior boys: Apratim Gogoi, Abhisekh Saikia, Agniban Dutta and Sekhar Jyoti Kataky. Sub-junior girls: Pallabi Parasar, Pritisha Borthakur, Kakoli Lahkar, Mursana Gohain and Kasturi Sarma.
