An idle brain is the devil’s workshop and no one knows it better than Nalbari deputy commissioner Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury.

The district administration is organising a unique online writing competition for people of Nalbari to instil positive attitude to boost the morale of people during the lockdown period in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

The topic is — “The three positive realisations I have experienced during the lockdown period.”

Considering the fact that people do not have any experience of a lockdown, Choudhury has organised such a unique online writing competition. He said: “We all know that an idle brain is the devil’s workshop and it is more so during the lockdown period. Our true character is what we think when we do not have anything to do. This competition is organised to encourage people and buoy up their drooping spirit.”

The competition will be in three age groups — above 40 years, 15-40 years and less than 15 years. The writing can be either in Assamese or English and word count is 300 .

The participants have to mail their write-ups to dcnalbaripositive@gmail.com.

There will be three cash prizes — Rs 5,000 for the winner, Rs 3,000 for the runner-up and Rs 1,000 for those who will come third. They will also get certificates. Evaluation will be done by a committee headed by renowned litterateur Basanta Kumar Bhattacharjya. The entire prize money will be given from the salary of the deputy commissioner.
