Police inspecting the pornographic CDs seized in Agartala on Sunday (PTI) |
Agartala, Sept. 6: The Tripura government ordered a CID probe into the banned All Tripura Tiger Force’s alleged porn film racket even as the militant group accused the police of spreading canards against it by circulating forged pornographic films featuring tribal boys and girls.
Official sources here said the government decided to order a CID inquiry into the scandal following the arrest of Asish De, owner of a video shop, and the recovery of more than 100 pornographic films from there on Sunday.
De was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. He had lured a university student of Shibnagar area of Agartala and taken obscene photographs of her. He had also blackmailed her, pretending all along that he was in love with her and promising to marry her soon.
De later made a full-scale pornographic film with the girl as the main female protagonist. Sources said De had also sold the girl’s nude photographs and the porn film to adult sites on the Internet.
“It is the bizarre tale of a simple girl blindly doing the bidding of a hardcore criminal, despite the fact that she is a university student,” a source said.
The girl has filed an FIR at the East Agartala police station, accusing De of rape and blackmail. In her written complaint, she has also disclosed names of at least five other girls who have been similarly trapped and blackmailed by De.
She also alleged in her FIR that last year, when she was about to secure a job with Air- India, De sent a letter and a photograph of both of them to the company claiming she was married to him. As a result, she allegedly missed the job.
“We now have solid evidence against Asish and he is going to be chargesheeted soon,” said Sanjay Biswas, officer in-charge of East Agartala police station.
Officers and policemen of Amtoli police station in southern Agartala yesterday also arrested Bishnupada Biswas, another member of the porn racket. Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the house of Bishnupada in Gokulpur area and arrested him with a large number of porn CDs.
In another twist to the sordid saga, the Tiger Force accused the police of spreading canards against it by circulating forged porn CDs featuring tribal boys and girls.
The Tiger Force mouthpiece, Choba, in its September issue, described the CDs as forged and the actors in them as “Mongoloid boys and girls of southeast Asia”. It said the state police forged the CDs and circulated as part of their “so-called psychological warfare”.
A source in the state police said: “These wild allegations deserve no comment from us.”
