Imphal, May 11: Chhattisgarh Hockey thrashed Hockey Uttarakhand 6-3 in the sixth Hockey India Sub-Junior Men's National Hockey Championship, 2016, (B-Division) at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium here today.
Hockey Uttarakhand began on a positive note with Sumit Kumar scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Chhattisgarh Hockey hit back four minutes later, with Tarun Yadav scoring the equaliser from a penalty corner.
Hockey Uttarakhand consolidated in the 25th minute when Sumit Kumar scored his second goal. However, in the next minute, Khilesh Pandya of Chhattisgarh scored the equaliser for a 2-2 score in the first half. Pandya increased the lead again in the 42nd minute. Uttarakhand player Pradeep Singh Bist equalised in the 49th minute. Yadav, Piyush Sahu and Pandya of Chhattisgarh struck a string of goals in quick succession for the victory.
In the other matches of the day, Hockey Bhopal thrashed Hockey Gujarat 15-2, Mumbai Hockey Association drubbed Kerala Hockey 5-1 and Bengal Hockey Association held Hockey Madhya Pradesh to a 1-1 draw.
