Guwahati, Nov. 6: Protoculture, a South African legend in psychedelic and progressive music, will make his maiden appearance in the city on Sunday.

The event billed as Terra Mayaa, Panache Entertainment and Tranceport present Protoculture and powered by t2, will take place at Residency Resort, Dispur on Sunday.

Only a few South African producers enjoy the success that DJ and producer Nate Raubenheimer, better known as Protoculture, has had over the last 12 years of his career.

Hailed by his peers as South Africa's biggest dance music export, he has also left his mark on the international dance scene with his trademark blend of melodious and emotionally-charged compositions and DJ sets.

Organisers expect psychedelic trance lovers to witness absolute music mayhem as Nate unleashes his tracks and takes the audience on a musical journey.

Trishul Mazumdar, the marketing head for Terra Mayaa, said, "This season begins with the legendary Protoculture. The line-up is really interesting and worth bouncing for the next four months. We are committed to bringing good music to Guwahati and creating good vibes."

He said they have been in conversation with Protoculture for the last two years and are excited about finally hosting the psychedelic icon in the Northeast. "The Northeast has always boasted of having an evolved palate when it comes to music. The city deserves such musical journeys more often," he said.

Terra Mayaa, a resto-lounge, has been adopting a different approach to the electronic dance music scene and has presented the city with names like Guy J, Dave Seaman, Nikhil Chinapa, Pearl, Ankytrixx, Arjun Vagale, SaharZ and Rohit Barker, among others.

It has been their constant endeavour to bring the world's leading names in the electronic music scene to the city and create an unmatched audio-visual experience.

Protoculture said, "I have been hearing great things about the music scene of the Northeast and have been very curious to witness it. I am really happy to be finally playing in Guwahati and have heard such great things about the audience there. I intend to drop my best and latest mixes and am looking forward to having a great time there."

Taken up by the art of music production at a young age, Nate made the leap to pursue a music career professionally after completing his studies in audio engineering at 20.

His international debut came at Britain's famed Glastonbury Festival. From London to Tokyo, Sao Paulo to Moscow, Protoculture was a staple at psychedelic trance festivals around the globe, most notably at Glade in Britain, Universo Parallello in Bahia, Brazil, Earthcore Global Carnival in Melbourne, Australia and Ozora Festival near Budapest.

Protoculture, as a DJ and live performer, ranks as South Africa's number one DJ, according to DJ Mag's top 100 DJs from 2011 to present.

So let the decibels rise this Sunday for Protoculture.
