Guwahati, Oct. 8: The BJP leaders here will meet tomorrow to prepare a detailed document about corruption allegations against the ruling Congress to help the party’s senior leader L.K. Advani attack the Tarun Gogoi-led government during the former’s Jan Chetna Yatra rally here on October 20.

Advani will address his maiden public rally in the Northeast here as part of his countrywide yatra for “good governance and clean politics”. The rally will begin on October 11 from Sitab Diara in Bihar.

Although Advani is likely to bank on the corruption allegations against the UPA government at the Centre, the BJP leaders in the state said corruption allegations against the Gogoi government would also feature during his anti-corruption rally.

“The massive corruption by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has been exposed and Advani’s rally is aimed at making people aware about how the Congress party is looting public money here in the state too. When Advani visits here, we want that the huge corruption taking place under the state government finds place in his speeches to make the people aware and garner public support against corruption,” a state BJP leader said today.

BJP national general secretary Kiran Maheswari will meet state leaders tomorrow at the planetarium conference hall here to discuss schedules of Advani’s visit and work out issues of the state to feature during the rally, likely to be held at Assam Engineering Institute playground here.

Maheswari will also brief the state leaders about the yatra and take suggestions on how to garner public support out of the rally for the BJP in Assam and other parts of the region.

“Although Jan Chetna Yatra is a national campaign against corruption and for good governance, the corruption taking place under the Tarun Gogoi government, like the multi-crore NC Hills scam and in the state irrigation department, is equally important and we will try to highlight them,” said the BJP leader.
