Guwahati, Sept. 5: The Assam government today effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring the commissioner and secretary, home and political department, Rajiv Kumar Bora, to the personnel department as commissioner and secretary.

The commissioner and secretary to the chief minister, Jishnu Barua, has been given additional responsibility of home and political affairs.

The principal secretary, social welfare department, Harish Sonowal, has been transferred as principal secretary, hills area development.

The commissioner and secretary, soil conservation department, Hemanga Kishore Sarma, has been made commissioner and secretary of the social welfare department.

The commissioner and secretary, hill area development, Prem Saran, has been transferred to the soil conservation department. The principal secretary to the governor, R.T. Jindal, has been given additional charge of agriculture department. The present principal secretary, agriculture department, J.P. Meena, has gone on deputation to Delhi.

A minor police reshuffle was also effected.
