Guwahati, March 26: The All Tai Ahom Students Union (Atasu) has called a 12-hour Assam bandh on Thursday to protest against the assault and abduction of its publicity secretary Lakhya Konwar.

Atasu president Ashini Kumar Chetia told reporters here today that 15 miscreants, led by one Sunil Gogoi, had assaulted and abducted Konwar from Jayanagar on Friday.

Alleging a Dispur-police-criminal nexus, Atasu leaders said they would move the Assam Human Rights Commission against the ?soft? attitude of the police against criminals.
