Adi, Mising script meet

The first joint convention on the scripts of the Adi and Mising communities, which have similar origin, was organised at Damro village in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district from Wednesday to Friday.

Dhemaji: The first joint convention on the scripts of the Adi and Mising communities, which have similar origin, was organised at Damro village in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district from Wednesday to Friday.

The event began with the unfurling of the flags by presidents of Adi Bane Kebang and Mising Bane Kebang, Kangir Jamoh and Promananda Chayengiya, respectively.

The modified Adi-Mising Roman script, which was adopted during the earlier convention of the Adi-Mising Bane Kebang at Gogamukh in Assma's Dhemaji district, was the main topic of discussion. Career guidance for Adi and Mising students, mutual cooperation in solving border and other disputes, setting up a centre for research on their tradition and culture, promotion of Adi and Mising cuisines and construction of Adi-Mising houses at Guwahati, Dibrugarh and New Delhi, were also discussed.

Geku-Mariyang and Mebo legislators Olom Panyang and Lombo Tayeng released the Adi Kebang Ayon and Adi Agom Ken:ge Nana as third language book in schools. An Adi-Mising audio cassette, produced by Gindu Borang, was also released. It was decided to hold the joint convention once every three years. Adi Agom Kebang president Kaling Borang, Mising Agom Kebang president Guvin Taid, Adi Mising Bane Kebang president Raju Medak and general secretary Okom Yosung, among others, were present.
