Students waited with bated breath since morning for their results, which were released by the board at noon. They mostly gathered at cyber cafes or in front of their personal computers. Only a few students went to their schools. However, a huge congestion in the CBSE's website created confusion.
Geetima Sharma, a student of Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, who secured 93.2 per cent, the highest in her school's commerce stream, said she got her results only after trying for two hours. A jubilant Geetima said her aim was to work with the Reserve Bank of India and, to materialise her dream, she will pursue BCom either in Gauhati Commerce College or outside the state.
Chandrawali Goswami, an arts student of city-based South Point School, Barsapara, got 95.2 per cent.
"When I got my results, I was overwhelmed. I hugged my mother in joy. I want to pursue a law course. I have already appeared for some entrance examinations for the course," she said.
Some students were not happy with their results and are planning a recheck of their answerscripts.
Hirakjyoti Deka from Modern English School, Kahilipara, who secured 93.6 per cent in the science stream, said he had expected 95 per cent marks. "I got much less than expected in English and am planning to get the paper rechecked," he said.
