Guwahati: After five years, the city will again play host to the Prag Cine Awards organised by local news channel Prag News on May 26 and 27, the channel's chief managing director Sanjib Narain announced here on Wednesday.
The two-day event will mark the completion of 15 years of Prag Cine Awards since its inception in the year 2003.
This year, winners in different categories will be chosen from 32 films of which 18 are Assamese films and the rest are films from all over the Northeast.
"Apart from the awards, there will also be the usual fare of live song and dance performances by popular Assamese artistes that our audiences have come to expect over the years," Narain said.
"We are also trying to invite at least a couple of Bollywood stars who have never visited Assam before to grace the occasion," he added.
It was announced that this year's event will be live telecast on a number of local, national as well as international television channels whose names will be confirmed in the days leading up to the event.
Prag Cine Awards are presented annually by Prag News, a satellite television channel from Assam.
The aim of the award is to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema. The award was first instituted in the year 2003. Starting from 2015, films produced in other northeastern states were also honoured in this ceremony.
