If you love musical fantasy films, the Descendants franchise has to be on your watchlist. Especially when there’s a new release from the series — Descendants: The Rise of Red. The upcoming release, directed by Jennifer Phang, stars Kylie Cantrall as Red, the daughter of Queen of Hearts and Malia Baker as Chloe Charming, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming.

The story revolves around Uma’s (played by China Anne McClain, the daughter of Ursula) invitation to Red to join Auradon Prep. Auradon Prep is a hotshot school attended by the heroes and anti heroes of the Descendants franchise, and Uma is the principal of the school. The story then moves forward with Queen of Hearts’ planning to seek revenge from the school and Cinderella while a bond gradually develops between Red and Chloe. Who wins — the queen of Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts, or Red and Chloe — you have to watch the film to know.

Melanie Paxton plays the role of Fairy Godmother, Rita Ora plays the Queen of Hearts, Brandy Norwood essays the role of Cinderella and Paolo Montalban plays Prince/King Charming in the movie.

The Descendants: The Rise of Red releases on July 12 on DisneyPlus Hotstar.
