A new featurette by Warner Bros. Entertainment pulls back the curtain on Dune’s phenomenal and sonically brilliant soundscape. In the 28-minute long video, Villeneuve discusses the process of crafting Dune's unique sounds, including the Arrakis desert, sandworms, ornithopter and the clever vocal work that went behind the voice of the Bene Gesserit.
“Getting a call from Denis is akin to an actor getting a call that they got the role. It’s a thrilling moment because you know that you’re about to have a great adventure. While you’re working with Denis Villeneuve, you’re pinching yourself saying, ‘Is this really happening? Are we really experiencing this?’ Because you experience filmmaking that you don’t experience anywhere else. For Dune, I got an e-mail, it was very simple. It said, “Hey Mark, we’re making Dune. I want to get the band back together again,” said Sound Editor & Sound Designer Mark Mangini.
