‘The Lost Daughter’ trailer
Elena Ferrante’s dramatised novel stars Dakota Johnson and Olivia Colman

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut based on the 2008 novel by Elena Ferrante stars Oscar winner Olivia Colman in the role of Leda – a divorced mother of two, who goes for a vacation to the Ionian coast of Italy and encounters a young mother named Nina (Dakota Johnson), forcing her to confront some unsettling memories of her early motherhood. The film premiered this year at the 78th International Venice Film Festival, and the trailer has already garnered 634,000 views in just 2 days. Apart from Colman and Johnson, the movie also stars Normal People star Paul Mescal who’s making his Hollywood debut with the drama.
Expect to find Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard and Ed Harris in pivotal roles. Buckle your seatbelts for a thriller unlike any other, as The Lost Daughter drops on Netflix on December 31, 2021.
