If the magic of moving images excites you, then you will surely like this one. Chhello Show (The Last Film Show) is India’s official entry to the Oscars, and obviously for a good reason. A semi-autobiographical take on director Pan Nalin’s life, the Gujarati film follows the journey of Samay, a nine-year-old kid living in a small Saurashtra village, who bribes a projectionist to let him watch films in the projection booth of a dilapidated screening hall. The coming-of-age film also captures the struggles and heartbreaks Samay faces during his journey of becoming a filmmaker. Go watch it on the big screen to support good cinema, and cheer for a good narrative.
