Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit stars in Netflix’s eight-part series The Fame Game, directed by Sri Rao. Dixit plays Bollywood star Anamika Anand, who goes missing after an awards show. The pilot episodes move back and forth in time, revealing details about her past and simultaneously unravelling the investigation surrounding her disappearance. Rajshri Deshpande plays a cop named Shobha who detests the showbiz world and is in charge of solving the high-profile case.
Some other pivotal characters are Anamika’s overbearing mother (Suhasini Mulay), her husband Nikhil (Sanjay Kapoor), her co-star Manisha Khanna (Manav Kaul) and her teenage children Avi (Lakshvir Saran) and Amara (Muskkaan Jaferi). “When you work on a film, the story is to be told in two or three hours, but in a series, you have eight hours of content to create – that gives you time to time to work on the backstories of each character. They become real and relatable. You can create a world of its own, and give people beautiful stories. You want to know what happens in their life, and that’s the fun of OTT platforms and series,” Madhuri shared about her OTT debut.
