Who wants to listen to a separating couple talk about marriage? Well, everyone, if they are anything like R. Madhavan and Surveen Chawla’s characters in Netflix’s latest comedy-drama Decoupled that releases on 17 December. The series has potential to fill the gap in the representation of urban Indian couples and separation.
The recently released trailer follows a couple who share great chemistry (and comic timing) for two people trying to call it quits. What stands out is how believable their equation is, mirroring most well-off urban marriages that wish for an amicable end, even with some messy emotions involved. It’s a fresh take far removed from the loud, tragic separations that dominate our screens. There’s a healthy dose of laughter and levity, exploring niche concepts like open marriages and more serious matters like kids. The best part, you can’t guess what comes next for the couple. We can't wait to watch this saga unfold.
