The first full trailer for The Batman promises a film darker and more violent than anything we’ve seen before. The first thing that strikes you is its similarity to The Dark Knight trilogy, especially in its tonality. Robert Pattinson’s Batman makes for a brutal vigilante. Though fans may miss Christian Bale's guttural growl, the familiar aura of menace has been retained. “Fear is a tool, and when that light hits the sky, it’s not just a call, it's a warning,” says the new caped crusader.
We get a teasing glimpse of the Riddler, the main antagonist of the film, although fans are quite desperate to learn more about the comic fan favourite. Zoe Kravitz’s Selena Kyle aka Catwoman is fierce and an unrecognisable Colin Farrell plays Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin! Andy Serkis takes up the mantle of Alfred the Butler doling out warnings for Bruce Wayne. We can’t wait to see what unfolds in Gotham City when the Riddler and Penguin (and maybe Catwoman) cross paths with Gotham’s Dark Knight on March 4, 2022.
