Lena Dunham’s Girls premiered a decade ago but still remains a late-night comfort watch for millennial audiences. The show starring an all-girl cast opened up some crucial dialogues about modern romance and self-love and updated the female friendship for television. In many ways, it was the antidote to Sex and the City’s candyfloss aesthetic, since the show tried to address difficult questions that had never been explored on mainstream television before.
Besides Dunham, the show also starred Adam Driver, Sex Education star Jemima Kirke and Get Out star Allison Williams. The show has also received its fair share of criticism for its lack of diversity and also for not acknowledging the notion of privilege. But there’s no doubt, the show has been a true coming-of-age saga for many viewers across the globe.
So, if you’re planning a Galentine's day watch party with your BFFs, you know what to pick.
