Ever since the trailer premiered on September 14, Maid had been on the watchlist of almost all cinephiles who are drawn by intrigue, reality and survival. Inspired by Stephanie Land’s New York Times best-selling memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, Netflix’s limited series with 10 episodes has interesting names like Margaret Qualley, Andie Macdowell and Nick Robinson among the cast.
The series, with almost hour-long episodes, shows the incredible journey of a woman — a young mother Alex (played by Margaret Qualley) — who is trying to set herself and her daughter Maddy (portrayed by Rylea Neveah Whittet) free from an abusive relationship. She fights through poverty, braving every odd coming her way to shape a better life for her child.
The series that premiered on Netflix on October 1, is trending at number four in India and the official teaser on YouTube has more than a million views.
