Netflix has a brand new spy thriller up its sleeve and it’s quite a watch. But then again, it’s hard to mess up a film that’s based on a best-seller. Munich: The Edge of War is based on the 2017 novel Munich, written by Robert Harris and stars Jeremy Irons, George MacKay, Jannis Niewöhner, Jessica Brown Findlay and August Diehl. The film follows the events leading up to the Munich Agreement of 1938. There’s a parallel plot involving a secret mission carried out by friends-turned-rival spies who want to expose Adolf Hitler’s true intentions to the world.
MacKay stars as a British civil servant named Hugh Legat while Timeless star Niewöhner plays the German diplomat Paul von Hartmann. Irons plays the then-British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
