A lot of work goes into choosing the beautiful faces that drive us from one emotion to another on a big screen. The 15th Governors Awards lauded this effort, by awarding an Honorary Oscar to Juliet Taylor, who has cast for more than 100 movies including Taxi Driver, Schindler’s List, Manhattan, and Annie Hall. Having also introduced legendary actors like Jeff Daniels, Meryl Streep and Joaquin Phoenix, Taylor’s contribution to cinema is indelible. While accepting her award from Nicole Kidman, Taylor gushed over her performance in Flirting, before honouring fellow awardee Quincy Jones, who passed away earlier this month. She also got extremely emotional, sharing the story of how she first met her boss and mentor, Marion Dougherty, whom she started working for as a receptionist. Taylor added that the biggest win though, was to unlock opportunities for others, and expressed her gratitude to the Governors Awards for finally announcing that they would get their own category for the first time during the 2026 Oscars.
