Lifetime has just released a trailer for Janet, the upcoming two-part documentary about Janet Jackson, which marks the 40th anniversary of the singer’s self-titled debut album.
“This is my story, told by me. Not through someone else’s eyes. This is the truth. Take it or leave it. Love it or hate it. This is me,” Jackson says about the film. The three-minute trailer for Janet offers an honest look at Jackson’s life and career and also features several artistes who were interviewed for the documentary, such as Missy Elliott, Whoopi Goldberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Mariah Carey.
The film, which has been in production for five years and was made in collaboration with the singer herself, also features exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage from her early childhood in Gary, Indiana and her days with Rhythm Nation. The documentary also addresses her much-talked about Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction and her relationship with her late brother Michael Jackson.
Janet premieres January 28.
