When Fatal Attraction was released in 1987, people couldn’t stop talking about it! The Glenn Close and Michael Douglas-starrer was a psychological thriller that was way ahead of its time. The film examined the bunny boiler stereotype with the help of complex characters and sharp editing. The film followed married lawyer Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) who has a sexual liaison with editor Alex Forrest (Glenn Close), who becomes obsessed with him and goes to extreme measures to be a part of his life.
The film turned 35 this month and is also being developed as a reboot for Paramount+. While Mean Girls star Lizzy Kaplan will play the role of Alex, Joshua Jackson will play Dan. “Now she’s considered one of the greatest villains ever. That to me is a mistake. I’ve never thought of her as a villain, just in distress,” Close had once said in an interview.
“The astounding thing was that in my research for Fatal Attraction I talked to two psychiatrists. Never did a mental disorder come up. Never did the possibility of that come up. That, of course, would be the first thing I would think of now,” the actor added.
