Love, Death+Robots pushed the envelope on realistic animation this year, with its exquisite visuals. The collection of animated shorts premiered its third season this May and it included a much-anticipated episode by Oscar winner Alberto Mielgo. His animated short titled Jibaro, follows the strange but deadly attraction between a killer water siren and a deaf knight who is immune to her supernatural powers.
Netflix recently dropped a featurette featuring Mieglo himself where he pulled back the curtains behind Jibaro’s mind-boggling animation. The director revealed that he got a choreographer to perfect the siren’s moves and also shared details about his creative process and how a 72-person team laboured for creating everything from scratch.
