Disney releases teaser for its new Percy Jackson show

Starring Walker Scobell as the titular hero, the teaser promises an incredible adventure

We are living in the era of adaptations from page to screen, with showrunners finding powerful ways to translate stories across mediums. However, Percy Jackson is one character who has never quite made the cut, with two largely underwhelming films. All that is supposed to change on December 20, as Disney+Hotstar finally brings its iteration of Percy Jackson and The Olympians to our screens.

The streaming platform dropped the first teaser of the original series, which will have a two-episode premiere, followed by a weekly drop to keep viewers hooked. Starring Walker Scobell as the titular character, the clip lets us into the world of the relatable teenager, who is feeling the weight of bullies and poor grades. While the teaser grounds Percy, it also establishes the fantastical world that he will adventure into, as he realises the destiny that awaits him. We, for one, can’t wait to join him.
