‘Dil Bekaraar’ manages to make an '80s story feel contemporary

The Disney + Hotstar series packs in a lot of drama into 10 episodes

Dil Bekaraar on Disney+ Hotstar has been adapted from Anuja Chauhan’s popular novel Those Pricey Thakur Girls. This colourful recreation follows the lives of Justice L. N. Thakur, his wife, and five daughters, who live in an upscale Delhi neighbourhood in the '80s.

The Thakur sisters each have their own interesting conflict. But the parallel arcs never become too complex to follow, and can keep you hooked till the end. Dil Bekaraar’s greatest strength lies in the fact that it's not just a story about a family’s idiosyncrasies, but it also talks about youthful love and deceptive politics. The writers sprinkle in a host of interesting supportive characters, whose agendas and quirks not only complement the central characters, but also provide enough drama to make every minute of the show feel eventful.
