Intense Ranbir shines in action-packed ‘Animal’ teaser
This Bollywood masala movie is more than meets the eye

After playing a man with superpowers in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra and a lover boy in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranbir Kapoor is back in the action mould with Animal. In his second Bollywood film after Kabir Singh, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has not only roped in Ranbir, but also Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol.
The trailer that dropped on Ranbir’s birthday on September 28 starts with Ranbir and Rashmika discussing having kids, dropping the first hint to what later spirals into the main theme of the film — Ranbir’s toxic but intense relationship with his onscreen father, played by Anil. The anger and aggressive streak in Ranbir in the teaser reminds one of Shahid Kapoor’s angry young man avatar.
Haunting background music, emotional outbursts and exposed vulnerabilities, bloodshed, gore and mafia, action-packed scenes and Ranbir in a never-seen-before avatar — Animal ticks off all key boxes for a paisa wasool watch.
The film releases on December 1 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
