Two blockbuster detective franchises just had their 'mahurat'

Byomkesh and Sona Da are coming back!

2022 is shaping up to be a big year for homegrown detectives. Srijit Mukherji’s Feluda went on floors last week and Sandip Ray has announced his adaptation of the Feluda novel, Hatyapuri. This week two other blockbuster mystery franchises had their mahurat. Arindam Sil’s fourth Byomkesh film, based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s incomplete story Bishupal Bodh, is set to start filming, along with the next Guptodhan film, titled Karna Subarner Guptodhan.

While Abir Chatterjee will reprise his role as Byomkesh in the 4th instalment and Sohini Sarkar will play the character of Satyabati once again, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay will be seen replacing Rahul as Byomkesh’s companion Ajit. Abir also stars as Professor Subarna Sen aka. Sonada in Dhrubo Banerjee’s Karna Subarner Guptodhan, which also stars Arjun Chakrabarty as Abir and Ishaa Saha as Jhinuk.
