From celebs to small businesses to influencers, there is scarcely anyone left on social media, who has not hopped aboard the trend express and made a reel using this Sinhala song. Sri Lankan rapper, Satheeshan Rathnayaka originally released the song in 2020, but revived it again in May 2021 with singer, Yohani. Within a few months of its release, the song went viral, especially among the people of India, Bangladesh and Maldives.
Today, you cannot scroll through Instagram or Facebook without stumbling across at least one video that uses this song. What further propelled this song into fame was the celeb reels around it. In India, stars like Madhuri Dixit, Parineeti Chopra and even Amitabh Bachchan have all posted videos of themselves vibing to this song.
