The first behind-the-scenes images from Ridley Scott’s new historical drama, Napoleon, has emerged on the Internet. Joaquin Phoenix has been pictured in South East London filming the period drama, dressed as the titular French leader. Scott has had a busy 2021, with two high-profile releases, namely House of Gucci and The Last Duel. The director began shooting Napoleon last month and the film will reportedly explore Napoleon Bonaparte’s rise to power and his complicated relationship with Joséphine Bonaparte.
In the viral images, Phoenix can be seen in an era-appropriate, military costume, with a blue jacket flecked with metallic trimmings on top of a white undershirt and trousers, and the famous bicorne hat. Napoleon is scheduled to release in 2023.
