The distinguished fellowship can earn recipients an annual stipend of Rs 18 lakhs

If you’re looking to spread your literary wings, The New India Foundation is currently inviting applications for the eleventh edition of the esteemed New India Foundation Book Fellowships. The fellowship supports research that documents various aspects of the post-Independence Indian landscape. About 20-25 proposals are shortlisted from a large pool of applications. The chosen applicants are shortlisted to meet with a jury consisting of eminent people from all walks of life. This year the jury includes social scientist and author Niraja Jayal, historian Srinath Raghavan, and entrepreneurs Nandan Nilekani and Manish Sabharwal.

About five to ten fellowships are awarded every two years. The NIF Book Fellowships aim at providing an annual stipend of INR 18 lakhs to every selected recipient along with editorial and publishing support, which makes this a great opportunity for aspiring writers with outstanding ideas about post-Independence India.

Applications open: August 9, 2022 

Applications close: December 31, 2022
