After a year-long hiatus, the MTV Europe Music Awards has returned to the stage with a bang! Hosted by Icy Grl rapper Saweetie (who bagged the Best New Artist award this year), MTV's flagship award picked the ‘Music for ALL' theme to promote inclusivity in the music industry. Smashing performances by Ed Sheeran, One Republic, Imagine Dragons and Måneskin at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena during the November 14 ceremony made the awards an affair to remember.
Our favourite pop-icons who won big...
BTS
Boy band BTS stole the show at the MTV EMAs, walking away with four major titles — Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Group, and Biggest Fans. No specific song by the Bangtan boys was nominated but we’re sure the smooth tunes of their hit singles Butter and My Universe had a little something to do with them seeing all four nominations through.

Lil Nas X
The Old Town Road debonair singer made a statement (and raised a few eyebrows) with the music video to MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name). A story of queer repression, the clip takes listeners on a tumultuous journey from the Garden of Eden to the devil’s lair, depicting that as long as you stay true to yourself, you’ll always be happy. The mesmerising music video has garnered over 391 million streams since its release.

Ed Sheeran
The European singer-songwriter’s fleet-footed tune Bad Habits won him the dual honour of Best Artist and Best Song in 2021. With this upbeat track, Sheeran takes a step towards a more electronic sound, a vibe prevalent throughout his album, Equals that has soared to the #1 spot on the UK Billboard charts.

Olivia Rodrigo
It comes as no surprise that Olivia Rodrigo bagged the Best Push award. Her debut studio album Sour has notched up some unbelievable numbers and has fans all over the world on a listening spree, playing the 11-track album on repeat!

Måneskin:
The rock band comprising Victoria De Angelis (bass), Ethan Torchio (drums), Thomas Raggi (guitar), and Damiano David (vocals) were crowned with Best Rock title and their on-stage performance at the MTV EMA’s made it hard to disagree with the choice! Måneskin is firing up the rock genre, following in the footsteps of the OGs Bon Jovi and Guns N’ Roses.
