Everyone’s talking about Encanto, Disney’s new fantasy musical film about the magical Madrigal family. Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz voices the protagonist Mirabel, a 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family. The film’s soundtrack is steadily climbing the charts and contains eight original songs written by Lin Manuel Miranda and 36 score pieces composed by Germaine Franco.
While We Don’t Talk About Bruno is perhaps the most memorable track from the album, Jessica Darrow’s Surface Pressure is winning over Tik Tok. The 3:22 track focuses on Luisa, Mirabel’s uncomplaining older sister. Miranda revealed recently that the song is a homage to his own sister. “That song is my love letter and apology to my sister. I watched my sister deal with the pressure of being the oldest and carrying burdens I never had to carry,” Miranda revealed recently.
