Peter Jackson’s nostalgia-ridden docu-series The Beatles: Get Back (an early Christmas present to Beatles fans!) dives into the final days of the fantastic four — Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. So, it’s only fitting that we revisit the band’s early days, specifically the tune that kick-started their iconic journey.

I Saw Her Standing There opens the band’s debut studio album Please Please Me that was released in 1963. Every Beatles number has a distinct ebullience surrounding it and there’s no doubt that I Saw Her Standing There laid the foundation for the same. The tune defines the band perfectly. McCartney’s spirited countdown sets the number into motion, followed by a bevy of fleet-footed notes, synchronised claps and jaunty riffs.
Arguably one of the greatest numbers by the four boys who redefined the rock-n-roll genre, I Saw Her Standing There stands strong even 60 years after its release. Tune in!
