A song from the composers of Tiny Dancer and One Call Away is just the pick-me-up you need to beat those Monday blues. Elton John and Charlie Puth gifted us an original tune, Afterall, at the Global Citizen Live Festival in Paris. The Global Citizen Live Festival is a one-day global event to create awareness and raise funds for the worldwide hunger crisis, climate needs in developing countries and COVID-19 vaccination around the world.
Afterall is a tune played on an electronic synthesiser and a grand acoustic piano, and the balance between the two is nothing short of incredible. Puth’s high notes and John’s low vocals hit the sweet spot every time. The duo composed the song for John’s upcoming 16-song collection — The Lockdown Sessions. Puth came up with the lyrics while John wrote the melody. The album drops on October 15 and also features Brandi Carlile, Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, Eddie Vedder, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Stevie Wonder, and Stevie Nicks.
Puth and John said they have incredible energy and great chemistry together. Who knows, maybe we’ll be humming to a couple more duets soon!
