When Beyonce dropped the track Be Alive from King Richard’s soundtrack, her fans knew the song would go on to break some major records. And this week it did. Beyonce is now a contender for the Best Original Song category for the track which she wrote for the Best Picture nominee King Richard

It’s a powerful ballad that talks about dedication, hard work and family and features lyrics that go, “It feels so good to be alive / Got all my sisters by my side / Couldn’t wipe this black off if I tried / That’s why I lift my hеad with pride / Now we’re sitting on top of thе world again”. Though Beyonce has performed at the Oscars multiple times, this is the first Oscar nomination for the icon. Be Alive is also Beyonce’s first release as a lead artist since 2020’s Black Parade.
